We are approaching spring break, that means we are at the end of week seven. We have completed our two weeks of proof of concept and have two paths to go on. One, you have completed everything and are on your way to define your project and take the first steps. The other path is taking a small pivot to redefine your proof of concept. I am on a small pivot and have a new proof of concept to complete by April 1st.
I learned that I have no drive to take photos during the day. With what I wanted to capture, it would have to be on my own time, outside of school. With my schedule being so busy and quick changing, I had to reschedule and cancel shoots. At the end of the two weeks, I realized this will not work for my project. I was bored and lacked drive and passion.
The past few weeks, I have been struggling with my mental health. I turned to art to express myself and cope with what I’ve been going through. It didn’t just help with my mental health but it helped me understand what was missing from my project and how to get me to that place where I don’t want to stop working.
I discovered I haven’t been creating enough. I’ve decided to use photography, sketches, paintings and whatever else comes my way to express my emotions. My final project will be a memoir like art event. This will allow me to discover and understand what I am going through and my emotions. This will give me the chance to express myself and get it out and come to peace with myself. I will turn this negative experience, to have a positive outcome.
I’ve truly learned that life will bring you down. You will have unknown speed bumps, hills, snow banks, and sometimes mountains to overcome. I am in the process of overcoming one of many large mountains. I need to remember two steps forward and one step back is progress. This pivot is very important and will help me in the future. Despite, having to go back and repeat all my work from the last two weeks. But I am still one step closer to the valley on the other side of the mountains.
